I don’t know how many times I can say I love the Oregon Coast before I magically start appearing there (#goals). When Isaac reached out to set up a surprise engagement session with me at Haystack Rock after proposing to Anna on their Portland, Oregon trip, I couldn’t say no! Cannon Beach is one of my favorite places to take engagement photos!

Couple Goals!

Of course, the day we decide to do a Cannon Beach engagement session, it’s a typical stormy PNW day. Despite the cold and windy weather, Isaac and Anna eagerly embraced every aspect of the shoot! They were so game to do all the crazy poses I threw at them! They even ran all the way out to Haystack Rock and back to me. It turned out pretty epic.

One of the perks to not-so-great-weather is that the beach was fairly empty. It’s really nice as a Cannon Beach engagement photographer to have the space to ourselves when it’s usually so crowded.

Collaborating for your Cannon Beach Engagement

I like for all engagement sessions to be a collaborative process. For the most part, I pose my couples because it’s rare to find people who naturally know what to do with a camera pointed at them! But, I like to ask the couple about any specific photos they had in mind. Anna had two particular poses she wanted to use for their wedding invites. The first pose involved the couple standing facing the camera with Anna's head resting on Isaac's shoulder, while the second had them walking towards the camera.

I made sure to show them the back of the camera to ensure I had captured their vision. Anna was thrilled with the result, but I made sure not to stop there since we’d just nailed her two most-wanted shots. Instead, we shot for a few more poses and then ran to our cars to get warm! The trust and confidence between the couple and me during a shoot is my main aim. I want you to feel comfortable to be yourself at your best.
