Fun fact: I'm officially a local (we just celebrated our one year of being in the PNW!). I photographed the cutest proposal between Yen and Alex, and I can now officially consider myself a Seattle Proposal Photographer.
When Alex asked if I would document his surprise proposal to his girlfriend Yen, I was so excited. He already had an idea of where he wanted to go - a view of the city skyline and especially the Space Needle. He just needed help executing his plan and (of course) documenting the moment without her knowing we're there.
Nathan and I met up with him a few days prior to scope out where would be the perfect spot to include the view he was going for. It was a go and we were all so excited!

With plans later that evening with their family, we knew the proposal needed to happen in the afternoon. This, as many photographers know, is often a struggle with harsh shadows. I have experience of knowing how to utilize any lighting situation. I was definitely up to the challenge.
Living in the PNW you don't really get to know ahead of time what the weather might be like. Luckily for us, Seattle delivered us some gorgeous, moody clouds that perfectly diffused the harsh sunlight.
Yen and Alex walked right past us, right to this view. She had never met us in person before so it was easy to think of us as tourists taking photos of the skyline. With their backs turned to us, Nathan and I were able to get into our position without Yen knowing. (You'll notice how Alex gave us a peek right before he got down on one knee.)
We took a few photos to celebrate post-proposal, but we're saving their formal engagement session for later this summer. Stay tuned!
