Aniesa & Nick are originally from New York and recently moved to California. They were certain they wanted their engagement photos along the California coast, so we made it happen! They originally found a previous session I did here at Sunset Cliffs. Seeing it is what made them reach out to me in the first place. Coincidentally I was headed to SoCal anyways, so I was able to give them an option for a sunrise session. I'm so glad everything came together perfectly for their Sunset Cliffs engagement session.
San Diego had been bright and sunny all month long... except for this one day. Just our luck, right? A & N were a little disappointed that the sun decided to sleep in. But I assured them their photos would still turn out magical. There's something about the soft light of overcast weather that adds such a beautiful effect to photos. I'm so happy they trusted me. Sun flares or not, there was no way they were leaving without photos they were in love with.
My favorite Sunset Cliffs locations
I took A & N to two of my favorite locations at Sunset Cliffs. Nick really wanted shots with the "wow" factor, so I knew exactly where to start. Anywhere along the Cliffs is truly spectacular. It wasn't hard to find a spot that I knew they'd be happy with. We were able to nail Nick's request right away. Then, we discovered more of the rock formations and got creative with framing from there. One of my favorite things is to frame a couple using nature. I definitely made sure to take advantage of what we had to work with.
Aniesa's dress looked so beautiful and complimented the tones of our location so well. I couldn't stop admiring the way it looked against the sand and the cliffs, and Nick couldn't either! They way these two look at each other is truly something else.
Pro tip: Sunrise at the sunset cliffs seems counter intuitive, because it's called "sunset" cliffs after all. But sunrise gives you an entirely different vibe and nearly NO ONE around you. At such a popular location, it's highly recommended!
