As a Mt Baker elopement photographer, this destination never ceases to amaze me. When Mathias + Caitlin inquired about their elopement, I was over the moon excited to help their wedding dreams become a reality.
This couple originally wanted a very small and intimate wedding, so thankfully COVID didn’t require too many alterations to their plans. The spot where they decided to tie the knot holds so much personal meaning to them, and I couldn’t have been happier to be a part of their special day!
The beauty of Mt. Baker was more than enough to create the perfect backdrop for their wedding. With the water, trees, and everything in between, there was no shortage of scenery for their photos.
Mathias and Caitlin met when she came to Bellingham to visit her family and little did she know her aunt would be inviting Mathias over as a set up! She said that the moment she saw him, her stomach dropped to the floor and they ended up staying up all night talking. Within a month, Caitlin was permanently moved in here in Washington. She doesn’t believe in love in first sight, but this was the closest thing she’d ever felt to it.
Fast forward to the proposal, Mathias took her snowshoeing in Washington after months of begging him to do so. She grew up in Arizona and was dying to go adventuring in the snow! He had already surprised her with snowshoes for Christmas (how sweet!), so she couldn’t wait to break them in. Then in January when they went, Mathias got down on one knee and popped the question. Of course, she said yes! Turns out, Mathias had been planning this proposal for months and thankfully everything went exactly according to plan.
What did Mathias + Caitlin say about their Mt. Baker elopement photographer?
"My second piece of advice (the other thing you'll hear from any married person) is invest in the photography!! I had a VERY specific look in mind for our elopement and I wanted it captured perfectly because photographing on site in the mountains is quite different than doing so in a traditional wedding venue. It took me weeks of researching to find Taylor and I'm eternally grateful that I kept looking and didn't settle with photographers work I didn't absolutely adore. Not all photographers are created equal and you need to find one that fits your aesthetic. Taylor made our wedding into a real life fairytale and people are constantly commenting on how gorgeous the pictures are. I never thought I'd have a wedding as gorgeous as ours and I have the pictures to show we did. Pictures last a lifetime!!"
