A few quiet moments from a wedding at the beautifu A few quiet moments from a wedding at the beautiful Thornewood Castle. We have an upcoming wedding here and just yesterday I received another inquiry for a wedding here next summer. 😍✨ The history, gardens and architecture will always feel so romantic and enchanting.

I absolutely love this first photo of the bride walking down the aisle with her mom. The way the light was catching her veil just before she walked down the steps- chefs kiss.

This wedding was with the lovely @fieldandfoundphoto. I’m going to miss you so much but now I just gotta find a way to come visit you in Florida. 😘

Also OOPS I totally disappeared from posting on instagram but hello again! 🤗 I’m still over here documenting incredible love stories with my team, spending hours in the editing cave and momming through it all.

Nobody knew it was coming.

Whitaker and Spencer are sea kayakers, so when they picked a Seattle wedding venue on Lake Union, the water was always going to be part of it. Some of their paddling friends had already floated over to watch the ceremony from the lake.

What no one expected was that partway through the evening the 2 of them would disappear, climb into their kayaks in full wedding attire, and circle the boat while every guest crowded onto the deck to watch. Her dress trailed across the water behind her. Iconic. ✨

The whole day was built that way. Portraits took 15 minutes, because they wanted the rest of the hours for the people who traveled to be there. In their own words, they wanted to spend the wedding “living the day rather than staging it.”

Which is exactly the point. A day like this doesn’t need to be directed. It needs someone paying close enough attention to catch it when it happens, and ready when the two of you decide to go paddle. 🥰

Emma and Casey said their vows out on the bow, guests seated close enough to catch every word.

You could read the whole day in who showed up for it. A grandfather wiping his eyes a few seats back. A table of printed memories echoing the history of these two brides and their love story.

And now this day joins them. One they’ll remember forever, the day they said I do.

It was December, and no one was thinking about the It was December, and no one was thinking about the weather.

A live band, a full dance floor, and a grandfather who out-danced everyone half his age. People imagine a Seattle wedding as gray skies and a summer garden, but the winter weddings we photograph hold the exact same warmth. Different light, different season, same room full of people who came to let go.

The couples we work with tend to build their days around this feeling.

Not the choreography or the spectacle. But the reunion of everyone they love finally together in one place. 🫶🏻 The dance floor is just where it becomes visible. In summer it spills outside - in winter, it packs into a glowing tent and somehow burns even brighter.

Years from now, you won’t remember whether the timing ran perfectly. You’ll remember who was in the room, and how it felt when they were all dancing.

When you become a mom, you meet time. You notice When you become a mom, you meet time.

You notice it in small ways. Shoes that were the right size at the last fitting and already pinch. A toddler watching the oldest guests at the wedding cross the same gravel she just learned to walk on.

We photograph a lot of weddings where the youngest and oldest guests are the ones who end up telling a whole other story. They sit where no one thinks to look, and they see the whole room from down there.

Years from now these are the frames that hit differently. Not because anything happened in them, but because of what time does to a photo you did not think much about at the time.

Most of what we do is anticipate. We watch for the moments no one is planning to remember, because those are usually the memories you’ll want back.

This is the part we think about the most. Not th This is the part we think about the most.

Not the dress or the flowers (though we love those too). But it’s the moment a grandfather gets pulled into a hug and forgets anyone is watching. The friends who flew in. The parents who have known this day was coming for decades and are finally in it.

What a truly special day it is.

A wedding is one of the only times everyone a couple loves is in the same room at the same time. It almost never happens again. So we spend the day watching for it. The tears during a toast, the dance floor that fills and never empties, the two people who slip away for a second and then get folded right back into the crowd.

This is what it is about. Your favorite people, your favorite day, all of it happening at once. We are just there to make sure you get to keep it.

Nobody wanted to sit down. The dance floor was on Nobody wanted to sit down.

The dance floor was on the water, the skyline was doing its thing behind them, and their favorite people showed up ready to celebrate. A day like this feels like a reunion first and a wedding second.

Kendra and JC’s wedding was unmistakably theirs. Those are the weddings we love the most.

As wedding photographers, we spend most of the day directing and then the rest of the day anticipating. We are always reading the room, watching for what might happen, and making sure we are in position when it does. The blurred photo is one of our favorite frames from the night, and it was not on anyone’s shot list.
