Searching for the best spots for Seattle engagement photos can feel overwhelming, which is exactly why I built this updated guide. As a photographer, my favorite sessions start with one simple question: what feels like you. From there we match a location to your story and lean into color, movement, and moments. Below are five locations I keep reaching for. Use them as a starting point, then let’s tailor the plan to fit your vibe, your timeline, and your comfort level.
Artist Point (Mount Baker area) Engagement Shoot
If you want cinematic mountain views with minimal hiking, Artist Point is the best for that. Craggy peaks, alpine lakes, and wide skies give us a variety of looks in one session. The access road is seasonal, so summer through early fall is ideal, and sunsets can be spectacular. Weekdays and early call times help us avoid crowds and keep the experience calm. I handle scouting, light timing, and a simple walking route so you can just enjoy.

Mount Rainier National Park Engagement
Wildflower meadows, evergreen trails, and long horizon lines make Mt. Rainier a dream for engagement photos. Paradise and Sunrise offer classic scenery with easy-to-reach paths, while forest edges give us quiet pockets for intimate portraits. Conditions change quickly here, so I build a weather plan, suggest layered outfits, and choose timing that suits your comfort with hiking. Permits or timed entry may apply, and I will guide you through anything we need in advance.

Whidbey Island, Ebey’s Landing
A short ferry ride from Seattle brings you to windswept bluffs, open prairies, and driftwood beaches. Ebey’s Landing is perfect for couples who want a calm, coastal session with soft light and views of the Olympics. We can split the hour between the bluff trail and the beach to capture both movement and quiet moments. Sunsets are beautiful here, and weekday evenings offer space to breathe.

Downtown Seattle and Surrounding Neighborhoods
If city energy feels like you, we can create a route that fits your style. Pike Place Market for color, Pioneer Square for brick and ivy, the waterfront for open water and the Great Wheel, or a nearby rooftop for skyline portraits. Add in a neighborhood stop that matters to you, like your favorite bar in Capitol Hill or a cozy coffee shop in Ballard. Early mornings and weekdays keep things relaxed, and I plan a path with easy walking and variety.

Choose Your Own Adventure Engagement, Experience Based
Location is only part of the story. Some of my favorite sessions start with an idea and unfold like a date. Ride a ferry and grab some coffee on the other side, take a boat on a quiet lake, wander a bookstore, or bring your dog to your favorite trail. Experience-based sessions photograph beautifully because you are doing something you love. I help refine the plan, map the light, and build a route that feels effortless.

Planning Notes
Great photos come from great preparation. I help with permits when needed, light timing, backup plans for weather, and simple wardrobe guidance so you can move easily and still feel like yourselves. Many locations are at their best on weekdays, at sunrise, or near sunset, and I will recommend timing that fits the season and your schedule. If you want to add film to your gallery, I can mix it with digital for a timeless look.
