Seattle holds so much for so many different people, walks of life, and love stories. By the time we made it to the ferry at the end of their session, it was POURING RAIN. 😅 My shoes took an entire day to dry, and let me tell you it was SO WORTH IT. 10/10 recommend playing in the rain with the love of your life. It’s October which means it’s my favorite month an It’s October which means it’s my favorite month and not just for the fall colors. October was the month I married my high school sweetheart. (Nathan and I just celebrated our 9 year wedding anniversary!) It was also the month our son was born. My heart outside my body in tiny human form who seems to want to walk any day now. 🥹😭 His first birthday is coming up and I am feeling unwell. One of the many things motherhood has taught me is how fleeting time is. A sunny fall day up in the mountains. A perfect, s A sunny fall day up in the mountains. A perfect, slightly chilly morning with a full parking lot and yet nearly nobody on our chosen trail. These two have a history of bad weather during important moments. This time, we got lucky. We booked their engagement session last minute on the only date that worked for all 3 of us. We were hopeful but ready for the unpredictability of Mother Nature, and she chose to shine upon us. A cotton candy sunrise, incredible sun flare balanced with soft diffused light behind the clouds. A few quiet moments from a wedding at the beautifu A few quiet moments from a wedding at the beautiful Thornewood Castle. We have an upcoming wedding here and just yesterday I received another inquiry for a wedding here next summer. 😍✨ The history, gardens and architecture will always feel so romantic and enchanting. I absolutely love this first photo of the bride walking down the aisle with her mom. The way the light was catching her veil just before she walked down the steps- chefs kiss. This wedding was with the lovely @fieldandfoundphoto. Featured on @junebugweddings !!!! Nobody knew it Featured on @junebugweddings !!!! Nobody knew it was coming. Whitaker and Spencer are sea kayakers, so when they picked a Seattle wedding venue on Lake Union, the water was always going to be part of it. Some of their paddling friends had already floated over to watch the ceremony from the lake. What no one expected was that partway through the evening the 2 of them would disappear, climb into their kayaks in full wedding attire, and circle the boat while every guest crowded onto the deck to watch. Her dress trailed across the water behind her. Iconic. ✨ The whole day was built that way. Portraits took 15 minutes, because they wanted the rest of the hours for the people who traveled to be there. In their own words, they wanted to spend the wedding “living the day rather than staging it.” Which is exactly the point. A day like this doesn’t need to be directed. The wind caught the veil right as they turned to f The wind caught the veil right as they turned to face each other, the whole Seattle skyline behind them. Married on a 100 year old ferry, in the middle of Lake Union, with the city as the backdrop. Emma and Casey said their vows out on the bow, guests seated close enough to catch every word. You could read the whole day in who showed up for it. A grandfather wiping his eyes a few seats back. A table of printed memories echoing the history of these two brides and their love story.
