If you’ve been around for a while, you know that The Corson Building has been top of my bucket list wedding venues! Old world romance with amazing food in the heart of the Seattle? Sign me up! Originally built in 1926, it has so much charm and elegance from all the small details across the venue, to the lush greenery, to the covered outdoor space perfect for intimate weddings. And did I mention the food? Most of it from local farmers or purveyors, they tailor their menus to fit their couples.
Choosing the Right Intimate Wedding Venue
When searching for venues, the options can be overwhelming. Especially in Seattle, there are so many great wedding venues. But, when you’re looking for an intimate space, there are certain criteria you’ll want to evaluate. How do you want your wedding day to feel? Party vibes, dinner party, or a mixture of the two? Each will require a space that allows for what you want. Do you want a venue with in-house catering? If you’re going with dinner party, this is a toss up, but choosing the right caterer to truly wow your guests will be important since dinner in this case is the main event. Other things to consider as you choose an intimate wedding venue: convenience for guests to get to, places to take pictures, do you need to get a separate getting ready space, and is there a minimum to food and beverage even with a small group.
Bringing a New Second Shooter Along
While Kris isn’t new to photography, he is new to my team so it was really fun to see his creative perspective throughout the day. There are so many benefits to having a second photographer, even for intimate wedding days. You can divide and conquer, allowing us to be in two places at once means the timelines can move along smoothly. It’s not about getting double the amount of photos, but above elevating what you do get. A primary shooter is focused on getting those big moments throughout a wedding day, the ones that are core memories, but a second photographer can get those moments from a completely different, creative perspective. Also, they can focus more on details and candids throughout the day. Overall, no matter if you’re having a big wedding, or something more intimate, you can benefit from having a second photographer at your wedding.
The Corson Building Wedding
Ruby and Doug found me on Junebug from one of my publications there! I’m so glad they did. This wedding day was so sweet. Some of my favorite emotional images from the day are during the speeches when there wasn’t a dry eye in the house. Ruby wore bright red lipstick, and it kept getting on Doug when she kissed him but she just couldn’t help herself! It was so cute. Another big moment from this day was that their sweet pup got to join us at the wedding. It was a big deal to have Audrey (their dog) join us for first look and some portraits! Other stand out moments were the sweet florals by Analog Floral, as well as makeup and hair by OffWhite Makeup & Beauty.
If you are considering intimate wedding venues, check out The Corson Building. It is worth a look (and taste!). It functions as a restaurant outside of being a wedding venue. So, you’re able to go their casually and try their food. As The Corson Building wedding photographer, I see the beauty of this venue in all of its nooks and crannies. And, I can’t wait to capture more love stories in this magical space.
