Magical, memorable, unique, loving. These are just some of the words I’d use to describe Jojo and Skyler’s rainbow wedding at Coopers Hall in Portland, Oregon. The two wanted a wedding that was a statement piece — a true reflection of the wild joy their relationship has contained. I could not have dreamed up a better celebration for the two of them than the one they created!
Jojo & Skyler’s Wonderful, Wild Romance
The pair describes themselves as unique, with a wild energy. Of course, their wedding was bound to reflect that regardless, but these two thought it best to really celebrate with everyone they loved in a way that reflected who they are to each other in all the decor and in the experience of the day.
Jojo and Skyler asked that their guests not wear black, brown, navy blue, gray, or any other dark color that a guest might wear to a wedding. What resulted was an explosion of vibrant color, splashing through their venue and bringing everyone together for a one-of-a-kind experience.
But of course, they didn’t stop there! These two planned a five day event lineup for their guests, with their ceremony at Coopers Hall rounding out the experience. (You can find it here to see the details of what was in store for Jojo and Skyler’s loved ones.) They wanted to show their love for their guests, have a ton of fun, and show pride for their community and themselves. And I’d say they absolutely knocked it out of the park! I have never photographed a celebration quite like this one, and I’m so honored to have been part of it.
The Details
Jojo and Skyler’s community of loved ones and wedding vendors rallied around their vision for a wedding at one of their favorite places in Portland — Coopers Hall. This venue is a winery right in the middle of the city, and Jojo and Skyler love both their food and wines. Even before they got engaged, they pictured Coopers Hall as their wedding venue.
Their florist (Coy & Co), like the magician she is, created a rainbow altar full of colorful flowers, a bouquet for Jojo, a rainbow flower crown (white ribbon included!) and even green "clouds" around the venue. This gave everyone the feeling of being inside a rainbow as vows were exchanged and “I do’s” were said. Talk about a fairytale, dream-come-true experience!
