There’s something about Disneyland that just feels like a reset. Maybe it’s the nostalgia. Maybe it’s the magic. Maybe it’s the way every corner invites you to believe in wonder again. For me and my husband Nathan, this place has always held a kind of gentle gravity. It’s where we went for date nights in high school, where we returned to celebrate milestones and process life. It’s more than just a theme park to us. So when I find other people who feel that way about Disneyland, I know we’re about to make magic together.
Planning a Disneyland Photo Shoot
Disneyland doesn’t exactly love when photographers book professional sessions in the park. That’s why I always take a different approach—my sessions feel more like friends hanging out. We keep the gear streamlined, move slow and intentionally, and work in a way that honors the spirit of the place without drawing too much attention.
For every shoot, I’ll create a mood board to map out the locations we’re hoping to visit. We’ll decide whether to do a morning or evening session based on crowd levels and the kind of light you’re drawn to. (AM = soft light and no crowds. PM = golden hour magic, with more people but a whole lot of vibrant energy.) We also chat through outfits—whether you want to do one or two looks, and how that might guide where we go in the park. Every detail is thought through to make your experience as stress-free and magical as possible.
Maternity Disney Photo Shoot
I’ve featured two of my favorite Disney photo shoots for you to peruse through. The first is a maternity shoot we did at rope drop. There’s a special kind of peace that settles over the park early in the morning—just after rope drop, before the churro carts open and the parade music begins. It’s soft. It’s calm. It’s golden. With minimal crowds and that dreamy morning light, we wandered through the park slowly. Because my approach is always friendship-forward and super laid-back, it never felt staged or rushed. Just real, quiet joy in the Happiest Place on Earth.
Engagement Disneyland Photo Shoot
The second shoot you’ll see was an engagement shoot, in full Disney gear! Love! We shot during the late afternoon on a Friday, which, yes, meant crowds. But that’s the fun of it! We embraced the chaos, ducked into charming little nooks when we wanted intimacy, and then fully leaned into the bustling energy of Main Street and Fantasyland for that iconic, full-experience vibe.
What I love most about shoots like these is that we’re not pretending to have the park to ourselves—we’re living in the moment as it is. And that makes the photos even more meaningful. Real joy. Real love. Real life, at Disneyland. If you haven’t caught on by now, we love Disney (#disneyadults). Disneyland is joy. Pure and simple. But when you layer in the personal—maternity, engagement, anniversaries, or just a “we love this place” kind of shoot—it becomes something deeper. These photos become part of your core memories.
