Christianson's Nursery Wedding
Erica and Kyle decided on a micro wedding at a greenhouse in Washington State. They chose the perfect location: the Christianson's Nursery wedding venue. A beautiful garden wedding venue up in Mt. Vernon, WA.
They had chosen one of our Micro Wedding Packages for their wedding day. This meant they had me as their photographer. Carly of Emerald Engagements as their coordinator. She kept everything on time for us, as she always does. Rev. Ray Van Winkle lead a beautiful ceremony. Brett, of Wonky Bloom, as their florist. Who created such a whimsical floral display on their ceremony altar. Sprinkling around yellow flowers as much as possible. (You know how much my heart loves yellow) Her bouquet also sparked joy in my heart, including long ribbons that blew in the wind. So playful and fun.

The original 1888 Meadow Schoolhouse on the property was restored and holds all of the charm and character my heart desires. Erica and Kyle chose it as their indoor option for their small wedding ceremony. Since it was in winter (February, to be exact) you never know what the PNW weather is going to do. Having an indoor option is key. We love how Christianson's Nursery offers more than one choice for that!
In true micro-wedding fashion, they had booked me primarily for the documentation of their ceremony. Followed by formal portraits with family members, and of course the two of them. After I left, they joined their family at a dinner celebration at another location. For Erica and Kyle's couples portraits, we simply wandered the property. We took photos in all the cute nooks and snuggle spots we could find. Walking through both the large greenhouse and the propagation greenhouse.
Dogs are our family and they should be included in the family photos, you know?
Erica and Kyle's wedding guests included just their immediate family members, and of course, their dog Deli. Erica had let me know prior to their day that photos with their pup was very important to them. If anyone knows me, I fully understand this assignment. Deli stayed with her momma Erica in the adorable vintage bridal suite. Tucked just behind the schoolhouse where the ceremony would be taking place. She stayed right by her side, it was so precious.
We also welcomed Deli into the schoolhouse to be a witness to their ceremony. Those photos in particular melt my heart, looking at her little face watching so intently! After the ceremony, we then carved out additional time for photos of Deli with her pawrents. These photos were some of my favorite photos from the entire afternoon - obviously.
At one point we walked back into the schoolhouse to take some photos of the happy couple with the altar. Deli was nearby and RAN over to them, wanting to be involved. She immediately turned herself around and sat properly in front of them. Ready for her family photo-op. Oh goodness, the laughs at that moment, it was so innocent and sweet. We don't deserve dogs, you know?

I am so in love with how my wedding photos turned out!! Taylor is such a genuine and authentic person and it really shows through her work. She is so easy to work with and made us feel super comfortable during our photos. You would never know how awkward we really are if you saw the pictures! Taylor was also great at working with my dog. As a helicopter dog mom, having awesome shots of my fur baby was super important and Taylor totally nailed it.

If you are looking for a photographer, just book with Taylor - I would 100% recommend her services! My only regret is not booking her for engagement photos!

As someone who has worked at Christianson's Nursery many times, I'm pretty familiar with the grounds. I first saw it online soon after I moved to the PNW because I was dying to work a wedding at a greenhouse. I teamed up with a group of local vendors to help my vision of a colorful greenhouse wedding come to life.
The nursery is wonderful to visit through every season. In the fall you get gorgeous, vibrant colors. The spring and summer you have endless blooming flowers. The winter in the PNW is freezing, but you can always find warmth in the greenhouse. You can see another winter wedding I documented for Catherine and Saul. They chose for their ceremony to be in the greenhouse instead of the schoolhouse! It is featured here on this blog post about how to write your own wedding vows.
