When we envisioned showcasing a micro wedding at The Ruins, we wanted every detail to enhance the venue’s unique charm. The Social Co. and I planned the even so that all vendors would get the most from this romantic styled shoot. Nestled in the heart of the city, The Ruins features a mix of indoor and outdoor spaces. It’s a space that you have to see to believe. Once a exclusive club in Seattle, it’s not a premiere wedding venue. From the outside, it looks like a warehouse. Once you step in the doors, it’s a building within a building and the outside ring of it features courtyards with trees that grow from inside the building into the open air. It’s a venue that invites creativity, and we were inspired to create a shoot that felt vibrant and whimsical while showcasing a ton of amazing vendors.
Romance at The Ruins Wedding Venue
The Ruins’ partial indoor/outdoor courtyard provided the perfect setting for this styled micro wedding that Nathan and I shot. The sunlight pouring through open windows lit up the cobblestone courtyard, creating a romantic, dreamlike atmosphere. To complement this, we incorporated Pantone’s color of the year—peach—into the floral design by Tangled Roots Floral, adding warmth into the design.
Bringing the Vision to Life: Whimsy Meets Elegance
Peach-toned florals were the centerpiece of the design, adding a soft energy to the space. Each arrangement brought the most out of the rustic and old-world courtyard. To heighten the romance, we included the violinist Christie Becker. Incorporating a talented musician like this into your wedding day can enhance guest experience and show off something unique rather than a typical speakers and DJ. Her music paired beautifully with the venue’s timeless aesthetic, as well as the romance we were aiming for in the shoot.
For the reception part of the shoot with rentals from Cort Party Rental, we’ve moved indoors into their smaller ballroom which features stunning murals, windows that allow light to flood in and a beautiful fireplace. For smaller weddings, this is the perfect room for reception as well as ceremonies if that’s your preference.
Why The Ruins Is Perfect for Micro Weddings
With its urban charm and versatile spaces, The Ruins offers an intimate, character-filled venue for couples seeking a unique celebration. The cobblestone courtyard provided a cool backdrop for vows, while the indoor elements added sophistication. Of course, none of the shoot would have been possible without the amazing vendor team!
To those that made our models stand out: Michelle Wight on hair and makeup. Forelsket Bridal on dress. Irden Designs provided the stunning jewelry!
And of course the vendors who added all the elements that made this feel like a real day. From Another One Ties the Knot, who officiated our ceremony. To Honey Crumb Cakes on the wedding desserts, and Honest Calligraphy on paper goods. Everyone made this day exactly what it was!
