Let’s talk about pivoting for a second. 2020 completely shook tons of couple’s wedding plans as well as those in the wedding industry (myself included). Maggie and James were no exception to everything 2020 brought. That’s why, I am so excited to (finally) share their Washington State engagement photos.
Maggie and James got engaged before COVID struck, and they were so excited to plan their big day. Like tons of engaged couples in 2020, they had to push back their engagement photos, as well as their wedding. That is why we just recently did their engagement photos! Not only that, but their wedding got pushed back 3 TIMES!
Maggie and James | Point Defiance
Maggie and James had been so patient, and pivoted quite a bit. For their Washington State engagement photos, I took them to Point Defiance, for alllll of the forest vibes. These two are such a cute couple, you can so clearly see how much they make each other laugh in their photos.
Remember when I said I wanted to capture all the forest vibes? Point Defiance does not disappoint for engagement photos! Maggie and James were surrounded by mossy trees and ferns, as the sun peeked through the trees highlighting them perfectly.
I personally love shooting in the forest because it gives off such a romantic feel. Maggie and James choose to do two outfit changes during their shoot, which can bring an element of diversity to your photos. This will also bring you some diversity when planning on how you’ll be using your engagement photos.
During their second outfit change, they chose more formal attire. Don’t forget that your engagement photos are not just for memories, but you can use them for invitations, save the dates, and photos on display at your wedding!
I had originally planned for the last part of Maggie and James’ engagement shoot to take place at Owens Beach. Owens Beach had other plans and was under construction, so once again Maggie and James pivoted. Since they wanted a water feature, we went to Point Ruston instead.
When choosing a photographer, it’s important to find a photographer who can pivot on a whim. I like to always have a Plan B in my back pocket, just in case. Point Ruston was our Plan B. Can we talk about how I absolutely love how a cargo ship photobombed their shoot, too?
I also learned that Maggie and James have some pretty cute dancing! I am so excited for them to finally be able to show off their skills on the dance floor at their wedding. Not just that, but also for them to showcase and celebrate their love with the most important people in their lives.
