Seattle is full of stunning wedding venues. Landmark is a proprietor of several different wedding venues, and Nathan and I are excited to be on their preferred list! One of the venues I hadn’t gotten the chance to work at yet was The Ruins. It’s a Seattle wedding venue full of whimsy, nostalgia, and old-world magic. All of the things that speak so much to my brand. Along with The Social Co Events, we created a stunning styled shoot to showcase the venue and how our work complements the space.
This shoot was featured in the 2024 Fall/Winter issue of Washington Wedding Day Magazine!
The Ruins Wedding Venue in Seattle, Washington
The Ruins, a hidden gem in Seattle, is not your typical wedding venue. What appears to be an aged warehouse from the outside, unfolds into a maze of ballrooms, libraries, and courtyards that once housed an exclusive club. Now, it’s a captivating wedding and event venue, retaining its original charm and allure. Each room has its own narrative, contributing to the venue’s maximalist aesthetic. The Ruins is versatile, accommodating events that either enhance its maximalism or let the venue’s grandeur speak for itself. Located in Lower Queen, with a capacity of 150, The Ruins is convenient and can host weddings of various sizes.
Dreaming up a Styled Shoot at The Ruins
One of the best ways to get attention for your work at a venue is to create a style shoot in the space. Not only do you get a chance to experience it and work within its confines, but you also get to showcase to prospective couples what their wedding could look like! For this styled shoot, we went with a dark and moody approach. Lots of romantic candlelight with candles provided by Aventurine Candles— complemented by stunning meadows of florals by Nadira Design. The Social Co. brought together many great vendors to make this day a huge success.
Cort Party Rentals provided the rentals, giving a glimpse of what a real wedding at The Ruins could look like. Insaiyan Entertainment’s lighting set the mood in the expansive ballroom and other intimate spaces. These vendors, along with others, contributed to the transformation of the space, showcasing its potential for a variety of events.
Pushing the Boundaries of Styled Shoot
For our styled shoot at The Ruins, we knew we wanted it to be more than pretty tablescapes and posed photos. Though these pieces were important, we also wanted them to feel like an actual wedding day. Aspects that lent itself to that were an actual officiant at the ceremony–Another One Ties The Knot. You might recognize her from Love is Blind! Another aspect we wanted to include was live music. We brought in Christie Becker on the violin, which boosted the atmosphere. Of course, no shoot is complete without the help of a stationer. Honest Calligraphy wowed us with paper goods that genuinely reflected the old-world romance of the venue. And a stunning cake by Honey Crumb Cakes.
All of these vendors knew the goal we were trying to accomplish and ultimately showed up to deliver!
It’s important to recognize the team that helped style our models into the perfect bride and groom. Luxe Artistry worked their magic on hair and makeup, Forelsket Bridal provided a stunning wedding dress, and Irden Designs added the finishing touch with their jewelry. Their collective effort brought the vision of our bride at The Ruins styled shoot to life.
