A garden engagement session that ends with a boat ride? Yes, please.
Nicole and Evan’s Rock Creek Garden engagement session felt like something out of a quiet, romantic film. When they reached out for their engagement photos, we worked together to find a spot that reflected the feeling they wanted. Somewhere calm, private, and full of natural beauty. Rockcreek Gardens checked every box.
Why Rock Creek Gardens Was the Right Choice
Spring in Washington is beautiful, but public parks can get crowded fast. Choosing a formal venue like Rock Creek Gardens gave us the privacy and space we needed for a relaxed session. It also gave Nicole and Evan a place to change outfits without hassle, which helped set the pace for a session that felt comfortable and easy. The thoughtful layout of the space meant we could wander freely, stopping wherever the light or mood felt right.
And yes, the little boat floating at the edge of the pond? It made the sweetest final scene for their session.
How many outfits should I bring to an engagement session?
Nicole and Evan started with a whimsical look that suited the garden setting. Later, Nicole changed into a white dress that brought a cool contrast to the greenery. It gave us so much variety. Throughout the session, they laughed, held hands, danced a little, and shared quiet moments. It was very sweet. I always want my couples to walk away from their session feeling like they got more than just photos. I want it to feel like an experience—one that reflects who they are and how they love.
When you’re deciding what to wear to your engagement session, I always say you can’t go wrong with neutrals but I like when people show off who they are! Feel free to send me ideas and I can collaborate with you.
I loved brining my whimsy and experiential engagement shoot to Rock Creek Gardens and can’t wait for more shoots there in the future! Nicole and Evan brought an equal energy and were so down to explore all over the place, revisit moments with their new outfits, and ended up in a boat!
