There’s something about phone consultations that just clicks sometimes. It’s the way two people can chat and suddenly realize, yep, we’re totally on the same page. That’s exactly how it felt when Nathan and I first connected with Jessica and Nick. We laughed and talked about their dream of a relaxed yet intentional wedding day at their family’s lakeside home in Washington. By the end of the call, they knew we were their people. There’s nothing quite like that moment of trust and excitement.
Unique Table Assignments at Weddings
One of the coolest parts of this wedding is that they created floral arrangements with peoples names, had people take their names to the tables and that added to the decor. I love when DIY is done in an intentional and simply beautiful way. Weddings to not have to be extravagant to be unique to you and also beautiful. Usually it just takes a little more work on your part!
Stormy Summer Private Property Wedding
It started as a beautiful day on the water and turned into something else. Before the rain hit hard, we enjoyed pizza from Milleville Pizza Co. But, this wedding season brought unpredictable weather—blue skies one minute, torrential downpours the next. Jessica and Nick brought in a tent to cover their ceremony and reception spaces as a precaution. THANK GOODNESS they did. Because on the day of, Mother Nature decided to pull out all the stops: rain, thunder, and the kind of lightning that makes you gasp. It felt like something out of a movie.
But here’s the thing about them—they roll with it. As the rain came pouring sideways, the piano player, Mob Studios, (a total legend, by the way, who turned the evening into a dueling piano bar vibe) had to stop mid-Blink 182 song—yes, “All The Small Things” because these two have taste—the power went out, just like that. Cue the storm-of-the-season-level chaos.
The Dance Floor That Wouldn’t Quit
Did this stop the party? Nope! Someone grabbed a portable speaker from inside, and the music carried on. That’s the magic of a couple and their crew who refuse to let anything—rain, thunder, even a little blackout—steal the magic from their day. The dance floor turned into a testament to what weddings are really about: celebrating the people you love and the moments that matter.
