Becoming Your Family’s Photographer
As a photographer, the most rewarding aspect is revisiting the same families year after year. The relationships formed during these sessions make it a privilege to document your journey from high school senior to engagements, proposals to weddings, and family portraits to lifestyle newborn photos. Each milestone, each life’s greatest moment, is a joy to capture. The opportunity to return and capture these moments for the same people is a testament to the trust and connection we’ve built. And stepping in to capture those precious newborn photos is a moment of pure joy!

My Approach to Newborn Sessions
We have all seen highly styled newborn pictures, like the ones where the baby is wrapped in a swaddle and placed in a basket or on a soft blanket against a backdrop. Those are definitely sweet! But my approach to a newborn session is to show your family your natural habitat! More lifestyle newborn phoots! That means showing off the nursery you put so much time, energy, and love into creating. It means showing off the details that make it a cute space for your new babe. Plus, when you look back at those images, I want you to see things as they were for your family at that stage in your life. This also means letting you three be who you are in that space, whether snuggling, playing, or breastfeeding.

Flexible New Born Session Options: Mini Sessions vs. Full-Hour
Something I love to be able to offer for newborn sessions is the option to either do it as a mini session, if that’s better for your little one, or as a full-hour session where you have the option to take a break or change outfits. I like being flexible during your newborn session because newborns demand specific schedules. This is meant to be a stress-free experience for you, so whatever I can do to make that happen, I’ll do it! Flexibility is the name of the game when it comes to newborn sessions, and my goal is to ensure you feel relaxed and comfortable throughout.

Adapting to Baby’s Needs
Speaking of flexibility, offering a more extended session might be necessary if, halfway through, the baby decides they need to eat. I’m totally game to get those feeding pictures to commemorate the experience! But you’ll want more than just feeding photographs, so we’ll have the time to get everyone doing more than eating. Or maybe we’re trying to get pictures of the baby in their crib, but they’re just not having it! In such cases, we can move on to snuggles with Mom or Dad and come back to that later. Doing newborn photographs is about staying flexible and adapting to the baby’s needs. As an experienced newborn photographer, I’m not afraid to move on to the next thing and try again later. Don’t worry. We’ll get the shots you want and make sure everyone is happy!

Lifestyle Newborn Photographer
If you’re thinking about newborn photography, look for an experienced photographer specializing in the style you want! I focus on capturing a natural blend of posed and un-posed moments that showcase your growing family. I strive to create a relaxed and flexible environment to make the experience stress-free and enjoyable for you. If I’ve had the pleasure of photographing your wedding, I’d be honored to continue being part of your journey as your family expands.
