Jamiee and James came all the way from Texas to say their vows in the Washington mountains at Gold Creek Pond and it was magic with me behind photography and Nathan on videography. They had envisioned a foggy, moody backdrop for their intimate Gold Creek Pond wedding, but instead, the sky gave them clouds over the evergreens, the kind of atmosphere that still carried that PNW mood they were hoping for. This elopement was also the first time I got to bust out my film camera! So excited to show off the results as it’s an offering my couples going forward will have access to.
A Personal Touch in the Details
One of my favorite things about intimate weddings is how deeply personal they feel. With fewer moving parts, couples have more space to give the day with meaning. And, Jamiee & James did exactly that.
Jamiee brought her own bouquet and flew it in from Texas. (Seriously, how impressive is that?) A striking mix of red and white, it popped against the deep greens of the forest. And then there was a surprise element that made it so uniquely hers: crystals woven into the arrangement that were so cool.
But the details weren’t just about aesthetics—they were about connection. Instead of hiring an officiant, Jamiee’s mom stepped into that role, making their vows feel even more personal. Whether you’re having a big wedding or an intimate elopement, this is how you make a day feel truly your own—by bringing in the people who mean the most to you.
Including Your Loved Ones in Your Wedding Day
Jamiee & James’ decision to have a family member officiate was a perfect example of how you can involve loved ones in your wedding in non-traditional ways. Some couples invite their loved ones to do a special reading, present the rings, or lead a prayer or moment of reflection. Others find ways to incorporate them throughout the day—having a close friend or sibling help with getting ready, giving a toast, or handling a task during the reception. No matter the size of your wedding, finding intentional ways to include the people who matter most makes the day feel even more special.
An Intimate Celebration in the Mountains
Gold Creek Pond was the perfect place for Jamiee and James intimate wedding in the mountains. Even though we didn’t get the fog they wanted, the PNW still showed up with it’s typical cloudy day that gave them all the moody vibes they were looking for. And, they found a unique way to incorporate pieces of themselves into the micro wedding–from choosing Jamiee’s mom to officiate to putting crystals in a bouquet flown in with them! I felt so lucky to be a part of this celebration.
