It was as though fall came early for Tara and Amanda’s Gold Creek Pond engagement photos. The fog and bright fall colors were popping up everywhere at Snoqualmie Pass! Call me biased, but Washington is one of the best locations for fall engagement photos in my mind! Getting to show off my home state to Tara and Amanda was a blast.

Microwedding Planning

Tara and Amanda are from Illinois, and found me through this special microwedding package I dreamed up with a few other wedding vendors. We started these when it became clear that weddings needed to be reimagined in the pandemic landscape. An all-inclusive destination microwedding was one way to keep people safe while still having that more upscale celebration. It was while Tara and Amanda were here with me touring some beautiful microwedding venues in western Washington that they decided to have their fall engagement photos here, too.

Gold Creek Pond

We tossed around a lot of location ideas for their fall engagement photos! We talked over Franklin Falls at sunrise, Golden Gardens for a beachy vibe, or an urban setting in downtown Seattle. Ultimately, Tara and Amanda really wanted the nature-y feel. Gold Creek Pond was the perfect choice. Gold Creek Pond is an easily accessible location for engagement photos — the trail is paved, making for easy exploration. On clear days, you can see all of the Gold Creek Valley, up to the headwaters of Gold Creek, and Chikamin Peak in the distance. 

Fall Engagement Photos

The cold weather called for lots of snuggles for Tara and Amanda! They had warned me prior to the shoot that they would feel awkward in front of the camera. I reassured them that I like to photograph real people instead of professional models for this exact reason — and asked them to trust me and the process! They loved the results of the gallery that felt like "them," which is always my goal.
