Rosehill Community Center Wedding Photographer, LGBTQ+ friendly photography
I have always been open to photographing LBGTQ+ community. I have always been supportive and a believer that love is love. I also have always done my best to be an ally of same-sex marriage equality. A lesbian couple, Maddie and Megan reached out to me and asked if I would document their wedding ceremony in Mukilteo, WA. I was thrilled that they trusted me to take a step into this special day and capture the moments that their family and friends can cherish with them forever.
My husband Nathan, of Ochoa Wedding Films, joined me in documenting their day with video. You can watch their super cute highlight film here.
Maddie and Megan are so, unbelievably loved. Their closest family and friends came together to celebrate them on their most precious day. Their ceremony took place at the Rosehill Community Center in Mukilteo, WA. They wanted to stay traditional and not do a first look, but to utilize our time wisely, we did their individual and bridal party portraits separately prior to the ceremony at their hotel, the Silver Cloud Inn.
Maddie wore a beautiful gown with lace details from Christina's Bridal in Lynwood, WA. Megan chose a grey suit jacket paired with white pants from Macy's & Nordstrom. Their coordinator, Leah, actually did hair and makeup as well as their florals with burgundy touches to match the bridesmaids dresses. Their dear friend Daniella did their cake that had details of gold leaf and eucalyptus - seriously two of my favorite things.
Their outdoor ceremony was at sunset. Both Maddie and Megan walked down the aisle with their dad's. Their bridal party, on each side, had both women and men - when it comes to the important people in our lives, gender shouldn't matter. We had 5 minutes post-ceremony for their portraits together, and we took advantage of every ounce of light we had left of that absolutely gorgeous sunset. After their family portraits at the altar, we went down to the water where the dusk sky turned to shades of pink and purple. I definitely believe it was mother nature celebrating their love.
Their reception took place at a nearby restaurant, Sage and Cinder, a vegan restaurant with phenomenal food, (can you believe it was their first wedding event?) It was cozy and intimate, the perfect setting for this night.
There was not a dry eye at this wedding, especially throughout their personal vows and the speeches during dinner. The amount of love these two bride's receive from their closest friends and family members is deeply rooted and unwavering. It was an honor to be a part.
