I love that wedding weekend coverage is on the rise! As a Hideaway Cellars wedding photographer, one of my favorite ways to create more natural, relaxed images is by starting earlier, and in this case, that meant photographing both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day.
Spending that extra time with the couple, their families, and their friends makes a real difference. By the time the wedding day arrives, people are already familiar with the camera and with me. That initial “who is this person” energy is gone, which allows for more genuine, unguarded moments. The candids feel easier. The interactions feel more natural. And the overall gallery reflects a deeper sense of connection.
From Ceremony at St. Joseph Parish to a Hideaway Cellars Reception
The day began with a ceremony at St. Joseph Parish in Seattle. Beautiful church! Church ceremonies often come with unique lighting challenges, and this day was no exception. But it’s in these environments where experience really matters. Knowing how to work with available light, adjust quickly, and anticipate moments ensures nothing is missed.
From there, the celebration moved to Hideaway Cellars, a reception venue owned by Landmark Events that offers a completely different energy. Tucked away and intimate, it creates a warm, inviting atmosphere that feels perfect for gathering your closest people. As a Hideaway Cellars wedding photographer, I love how the space encourages connection while still allowing for thoughtful design and a great party.
The lighting throughout the day shifted constantly, from the church to the reception space, but that’s part of the job. Understanding how to use natural light, ambient light, and supplemental sources is key to creating a cohesive gallery, no matter the conditions.
Why More Coverage Leads to Better Candids
One of the biggest takeaways from this wedding is how impactful extended coverage can be. When guests have already interacted with the photographer at the rehearsal dinner, they show up differently on the wedding day. They are more relaxed, more open, and more themselves.
A Vendor Team That Brought the Day Together
Every smooth wedding day is the result of a strong team working behind the scenes.
St. Joseph Parish provided a meaningful and structured setting for the ceremony, grounding the day in tradition.
Hideaway Cellars, in partnership with Landmark Events, created a reception experience that felt both elevated and intimate, allowing guests to fully settle in and celebrate.
Hair and makeup by Pacific Artistry gave the couple a polished, timeless look that held up beautifully from ceremony through dancing.
Florals by Diadem Flower Co added softness and depth to the space, complementing the venue without overpowering it.
Butler Seattle Transportation ensured a seamless transition between locations, keeping the timeline on track and stress low.
And once the reception began, Blue Wave Band brought incredible energy, filling the space and keeping guests on the dance floor all night.
