One thing I’m great at is creating shoots on a whim to bring my visions to life! And, if you want more of something in your day-to-day bookings, shoot it and put it out there! This vintage-inspired wedding photography shoot had been on my mind for a while. I love documenting weddings that have unique elements to the, and you know I vibe with ones that have pops of color. Or, whole waterfalls of color. Bring it on!

This shoot in particular felt like a whimsical fairytale. I teamed up with Lia Mueller—local Seattle wedding planner and coordinator—on a 1970’s styled shoot together. She and her husband were willing to come back out and model for me in this one!

Styled Shoots on a Budget

You don’t have to go all out every time you shoot a styled shoot. You can go low budget and still get your vision across. For our shoot, we rented a Selkie gown, a cute bubblegum pink shortie dress. She wore a veil that elevated the look. And I made the bouquet myself! Of course, I don’t recommend doing this all the time, but if you’re trying your hand at something new, why not! Most of the time, I love to invite all my favorite florists onto the scene to do what they do best. Overall, I think it turned out pretty dang cute with the little butterflies I added into the mix.

My Vision for Vintage-Inspired Wedding Photography Shoot

I wanted to put a new take on vintage and nostalgia weddings in terms of running away to the local chapel and getting married to the love of your life. Believe it or not, this can still happen, and it can happen in style!

Part of bringing that vision to life meant choosing the right locations. We began at Manresa Castle Hotel which added a perfect blend of vintage to the shoot. Then we went to Fort Worden Chapel which is cute and exactly the vibe I was going for. Lastly, we ended up at Third North Beach County Park, because how can I NOT end up oceanside for a photo shoot?
