This Valentine’s day, Halston and Louis’ celebrated the anniversary of their first date. And by celebrate, I mean they got ENGAGED! And I had the honor of photographing the proposal. (WHAT?! AHH!) Nathan and I asked Halston and Louis to join us up in Big Bear as a Valentine’s double-date. Little did Halston know, Louis set it all up with us beforehand.
We met at the top of the mountain where we went on a hike. We stopped at a gorgeous view point that overlooked the mountains and water below. I started taking some photos of them (which is totally normal when we hang out.) We talked about a signal beforehand, and you can see his signal to me right before he asked. This is the moment when Louis got down on one knee and asked her to be his forever. With tears in her eyes (and in mine), she said yes! She gets to marry the man who cherishes her heart and her soul! (YAY!) We went to the lake at sunset for more heart-swooning photos in a full engagement session.
After the shoot, we stopped for a moment to enjoy the most beautiful, vibrant sunset I have EVER seen. We ended the night talking, laughing, and stuffing our faces with Italian food. God had his hand on this day. This is a moment I will cherish forever. It’s one of the many, many reasons why I absolutely love my job.
“Love is more than three words mumbled before bedtime. Love is sustained by action, a pattern of devotion in the things we do for each other every day.” – Ritu Ghatourey
I firmly believe that love is a choice. Over the past 5 years, I’ve seen these two choose love every day. And honestly, there are no words, quotes, or emoji’s, that I can use to really describe the joy I feel. So I’ll let the photographs describe everything else. <3
