I found myself dreaming of this concept for a colorful winter elopement styled shoot taking place inside of a greenhouse. I found Christianson’s Nursery, which is a gorgeous nursery in Mt. Vernon, just about an hour outside of downtown Seattle.
This venue not only had everything I was looking for, but they were extremely flexible and accommodating. They are also a real wedding venue, too! The inspiration I’m showing in this post can actually happen in real life! Yay!
I think in the spring and summer we’re more likely to opt for bold and colorful decor and florals. However, anytime I search for winter inspiration, all I find is blue hues and muted, neutral tones. (Nothing is wrong with this, by the way)
So, I thought to myself, “Why not create a shoot that celebrates vibrant color in the middle of winter?” I read a quote by RuPaul that said it best: “Life is about using the whole box of crayons.” This is when my idea sprung to life.
Winter itself can feel cold and dreary for some, and cozy and romantic for others. But if you vibe with winter and fuse it together with vibrance and warmth? You can create a winter wonderland wedding of your dreams.
Also, wouldn’t it be nice to not be afraid of rain on your wedding day? I was actually HOPING for rain during this shoot to show the full vibe I was going for. I’m so glad mother nature listened!! With a greenhouse wedding, you can have all the cozy vibes, while stying completely dry under the glass roof. It’s just so romantic, don’t you think?

In preparation of this shoot, I connected with the event manager of the nursery, Stephanie. We discussed my overall idea of this styled shoot on their property. She was so kind, helpful, and flexible to my overall vision and how we could utilize the space.
We were given access to the meadow schoolhouse, which was built in 1888 and beautifully restored. We used the schoolhouse for an intimate ceremony space, keeping it simple with the wooden chairs the venue provides. Bumblebee Bridalworks created this hanging floral backdrop for the altar.
Lisa, our bride, had a natural makeup was done by Li Sun Goh. Her floral Claire Pettibone Santorini gown was a showstopper and perfectly complimented our vibe. James, our groom wore a velvet gold suit jacket from ASOS.
Christianson’s also has not one but two different greenhouses on site. I teamed up with coordinator Kate from Tapestry Event Company to help pull together my over-all vision. Like the rockstar she is, she helped me keep this shoot incredibly organized. She also put together this beautiful table with a sage table cloth and STUNNING vintage glassware rentals from Cherry Rentals.
For our featured goodies, we had custom drinks provided by our bartender @kaskaa20. Desserts were provided by my new favorite specialty dessert company: Botanical Bakery. Seriously, how cute are those floral lollipops and cookies?
The invitation suite was designed by stationer Cree and Co. It had beautiful vintage details and colors that really tied together our overall color scheme.
I couldn’t have done this shoot without the incredible team involved. I am so grateful that they trusted in my vision. This is one of my favorite styled shoots to date!
This shoot has been featured in Wedventure Magazine.
